Since I began my journey as a Marriage Celebrant I was 100% a Same Sex Champion. I've always been a massive advocate of Celebrating my couples connection, regardless of their gender or relations to their partner. Here in 2020 it seems like forever ago that the Prime Minister and the Attorney General sat down in late 2017 and changed the Legislation, allowing Same Sex couples to get married in Australia! Now, more than 2 years later it's been a massive pleasure to take part in Byron Bay Weddings celebrating 2 Brides. It's become a beautiful normal to sign the paperwork with 2 Grooms on the Tweed Coast and now all those ceremonies later, Love is indeed the winner. Families and friends have 100% enjoyed the ability to celebrate the Marriage of the couples who had to sit on the fence for so long.

When the Same Sex Marriage law changed I was super excited about the changing of the wording of the Law of Marriage in Australia. I now get to read this statement in my weddings: " I am duly authorised by law to solemnise marriages according to the law. Before you're joined in my presence and the presence of your witnesses, I am to remind you of the relationship of which you are now about to enter. Marriage, according to the law in Australia, is the union of 2 people to the exclusion of all others, voluntarily entered into for life."
